i had it once, this summer, and i was *really* scared, when they first put an IV drip in my arm (they had to look forever to find a vein :eek:) but after they put the relaxant/whatever in the drip i was fine :p then they wheeled me into the operating room, put a mask on me and i was out before the anaesthesiologist (sp?) was done talking to me. the worst part was waking up in a lot of pain, so they gave me morphine, which made me nauseous, which was actually worse than the pain because try as i might i couldn't throw up...but good luck! i'm sure everything will go great for you, iGary!

sorry about this, but I've had trouble with Japanese text only getting thru intact to a portion of friends to whom I write. Haven't been able to come up with a determination of what the issue is (e.g., Yahoo, 10.4.x, Hotmail). And it's late and I'm avoiding doing work.
Again, sorry for the massively off-topic stuff here...I thank you for your patience (if you actually are patient about it).

It's real, but its old.
The folder implementation is old as the new one is taken over in Mac OS X Lion.
Expose maybe removed due to what, I don't know.

I would have like to see more of a boost on the storage side as well. It would be nice .Mac could give 5GB of storage for instance for the 99bucks.

Also if you don't have the apps on your iTunes, I believe that if you are logged into your iTunes account and click the purchase button for an app that you've purchased before, it will pop up a box that says you've already paid for that app and allow you to download it again. (I believe this is true, I'm just not 100% positive on this)

Push Notifications are when your phone automatically checks for updates, alerts etc. without you having to open the app right? I guess it's just misleading to me because when I hear "push" notifications, I think of something that happens when I push the app or open it up.

What you are explaining is pull, not push.
In push, the phone keeps one connection alive to Apple. When Apple receives data for your phone, it will push it to your phone through this connection. The phone doesn't "check" anything.

Picked up my pre-order today, so far so good! The main reason I exchanged for my Elite was to see if the new Xbox was quieter in RL, which is its by a huge factor. I've got MW2 installing at the mo, and from 3m away can barely discern a hum - no more turbine hall, huzzah!
With no disk in it really is whisper quiet. There's a shrill "beep" when you use the DVD drive eject button to confirm you've actually touched it, as it's not illuminated in anyway that's probably a good thing.
Only issue I had was that the HDD was not detected first time I switched it on. One removal and insertion later and alls good, 227GB usable space. I'll ditch all of the pre-installed stuff before I get around to installing all my go-to games, add-ons, saves etc.
Suits my Samsung HDTV to a tee, one happy owner here!

No it's not banned. They are intentionally trying to make it more difficult for you to buy it. You have to do the footwork yourself to get it. It is unprecendented for a company to want to make their product more difficult to buy.
oh my.. poor baby... such a hard life you lead... having to actually go do something yourself, next you will tell us how you have all of your mail hand delivered to you on a silver platter and your butler or maid reads it all to you.
Given how many members of MacRumors don't even have an Apple store in their city let alone state or country you come of as a whinger who needs sympathy when in reality you have nothing to complain about in the first place.
Maybe the truth is you are complaining about losing your easy way to get iPhones through fraudulant means and selling them for a profit? I mean, why else would you suggest that AT&T is lying about fraud as potential reason for blocking online purchases in your area?
Go take a walk, you can probably hit 5 AT&T resellers of some sort or Apple stores throwing a baseball from your front doorstep.

:D got mine! It's MUCH better than I was expecting, but the auto-stereoscopy does my head in after only a few minutes :( It's really, really impressive though, you have to see it in person!

Haha, I can already see the next Verizon ad! This is pathetic. Surely Apple has worked out a deal with another carrier for 2010? At least AT&T doesn't completely suck where I work and play. Well, except my mother-in-laws house, which really sucks because what else am I supposed to do there? They don't even have wifi. I should have bought them a router for Christmas.

This is not surprising. All the Chinese resellers who were buying iPads in NYC are unlikely to buy the Verizon CDMA, because it cannot be used abroad. The GSM version (i.e. the ATT version) is one that can be used in most places abroad, as long as the iPad is unlocked.
What about all the white resellers?
Oh you'd never know who those were, would you? I guess it's probably just best to assume that every asian in the line is there to buy one that would otherwise be used by a toe-headed little white boy, while every white/black in line is just trying to show his support for his favorite company.

According to US law, a trademark holder MUST defend their trademarks, or they risk losing them. Google is struggling with this, as they're trying to encourage people not to use it as a generic verb.

For a short while, maybe a year or so, and the effect was pronounced, for those of us who use London buses. The mayor rolled it back from the central/western areas recently and long-term impact studies seem a little scarce in terms of car driver numbers. The carrot was also introducing cheaper bus and tube fares by means of the Oyster Card, a card with an RFID chip in it to speed passenger boarding with pre-paid tickets.
Using a bus in the UK, or London at least, doesn't quite have the same stigma it seems to have with some people in the US... although the distances involved are probably shorter than perhaps the average US commute.
NYC and San Francisco have toyed with the ideas but so far nothing has come of it. It takes a strong political will to make it happen I'm sure. In the end though, I can hardly see any other viable options for large cities.
This question is always asked on Canadian vehicle insurance applications, but everyone lies.

If gas taxes don't cover that in the age of the electric car, then we have GPS in cars to record, and report when prompted, mileage driven.
Of course, the same happens here and there's no way of verifying the facts. However, I'm sure there are statistics out there that tell us if people who drive lots, whether for commuting or for work, are more liable to have insurance claims.

ZipCar has them on their rental cars and they know exactly when and where anyone is and how much they've driven them and how fast, etc. Such a device is the only realistic way of measuring usage but it will inevitably lead to loss of privacy.

I still remember back in August, a Chinese magazine says merom Macbook/Pro will be upgraded in September. And where is it now?
And then there was another rumour that there is a shipment of laptops. And where is it now?
There were also another rumour that merom laptops will be upgraded by the end of August, and will be announce on the same day as dell/sony/... etc. And where is merom macbook/pro now?
All I am trying to say is, the accuracy of these report is very low, and if anyone is putting high hopes in it, be prepare to be disappointed....I think, however, apple will upgrade macbook pro before holiday seasons, and macbook in January.
