Anything With Lights: Nissan GT-R Pace Car

Nissan’s mighty GT-R has signed on for pace-car duty once again. Godzilla will lead the pack during the 2009 Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series beginning on March 14. Modifications to the car are pretty simple – sticking mostly to decals and high-visibility strobes and leaving the mechanical wizardry under the hood alone. Nissan offered its supercar up for caution detail to build awareness in the land down under, but a spokesperson with the company let slip another interesting tidbit that’s worth listening to. Turns out Nissan Chief Test Driver Toshio Suzuki will head back to Nurburgring with a 2009 GT-R to try to best his 7 minute, 29 second lap time. It’s about time the Porsche/Nissan fires were stoked.
